Last uni sem break

If I were to sum up my whole semester break, a word is powerful enough to describe it- Great!

The Sutanium Day
My holiday began with ice skating in conjuction to celebrate a friend's birthday right after the last exam paper . First time ice skating was really scary. Imagine the first time you learn how to take control of a bicycle, learn to depends on the only two wheels that touches the ground with faith. The first five minutes was monstrous. haha! Thanks to my two 'sifu' who generously spared their fun time to teach me patiently by my sides and I managed to stand and skate a little without any support. Yeah!

The dinner was absolutely great. The conversations and laughters were good. I laughed so much, especially when we shared our public bus experiences. Hilarious! Oh, not to forget that MayShing actually 'eats' (for those who know her, you should know what I mean here =P )

Family, Relatives & Friends
Spending time with family, relatives and friends was very good. Get to know them better through common chats, over a meal, casual hang out, visitation and etc.

Us, the crazy six were after the same drama, again due to someone's interest, sat at the common comfortable place talking some nonsence, laughed over some idiot jokes, shared our experiences, I always love and treasure those moments although sometimes our conversations can be super super crappy, hehe! 'It' runs in the family =P

Healthy Lifestyle
Due to some extra and unwanted weight I gained 2 days after my arrival at home, I went on a quite consistent exercise basis for only a week. LOL! I felt healthier of course, at least that's how my brain took the efforts into account =)

Badminton Phobia
I had a badminton session with my friends. Good in the sense when I get to move around and kick out some fats; bad when I got bullied by my team mates. They were so happy everytime they managed to fly the shuttlecock and land on the mong cha cha player- me. Fun, yes.

Planning Retreat
Never in my life discussions can be so interesting and intense. Still, I'm absolutely loving it. I have always been hoping that we could discuss those issues to the extend where we can have a clearer view of where we are heading and a more concrete measurement. Finally! Praise Him!
I do miss those moments. Thanks to everyone who made it there and kept us in prayer.

O yes, not to forget I learnt how to play a little majong there, hehe!

Dilemma
Speaking of semester break, that, was the last uni sem break for me and my course mates. It also indicates the end is drawing near, another new beginning is about to start. Changes occurs all the time, I know. Yet, I think I engaged too much emotions and enjoyed every moment of my life so much that I did not realise. I will definitely miss these three years of uni life as a student.

When the next transition arrives, let us all begin another fresh new chapter and ask God for wisdom and be our guidance, as always. =)

By the way, try this 'sharp butt tomato' (I dont know the name, hehe!), it taste explosively delicious.
I'm so gonna hunt it again, swallow tonnes of it and cheer my messy mood up.

Cuckoo Celebration

Another year looking up at the same moon, thinking of the years spent together happily celebrating Mooncake Festival. How lovely!

李白诗:
床前明月光,
疑是地上霜。
举头望明月,
低头思故乡。

Celebrating Mooncake Festival here is not that bad after all. We had mooncakes, biscuits, candles, torch lights and no lanterns, haha... Initially, we were playing the candles by making those candles stand in some odd shapes and chinese words. Later, someone saw a group of people celebrating at the roof of a car park building somewhere nearby (note: the red circled picture below). Then, trying very hard to grab attention from them by flashing torch lights and 'ying guang bang' just wanted to say "HELLLOO poeple at the other side of the hilltop!!!" *sweat* Anyway, no idea whether they actually realised our cuckoo greetings from the other building. We only saw twice they flashed red light. Heehee...

That day's celebration was not enough to wear off our energy. Once again, gathered some 'forces' to play a super duper tiring game the next day. We lit candles at the balcony, one by one blow off the candles in sequence using the thin straw. Whoever fails to blow off the particular candle will have to finish one of the almost-due-date-biscuits-stock belong to 'someone'. Mind you, it is not easy at all especially when we put the candles further than the first round (note: first round-left pic; second round-right pic). A few times, I nearly ran out of breath trying to blow off the furthest candle. Haahaa...

Well, that was how I celebrated this year Mooncake Festival. Had too much of mooncakes since 2 weeks ago during study week. BRruuupP!! Thanks pals, for willing go mad with me with some cuckoo games, haha... Not bad at all =)

One Life, Do Something

One Life, Do Something!

One Life exhibition organised by World Vision and in partnership with Community Excel Services was held in DUMC from 8-13th July 2008. It is a journey to see, hear and experience the tragedy and triumph lived out by the real children affected by HIV/AIDS and child trafficking.

It is truly an amazing experience where you get to walk into their lives and listen to their real life stories. As you walk, there are photos displayed on the walls, maps showing the geographical area where the child is living, real life materials laying around portraying the settings and stories together with music played by the headphone along the journey.

The real life stories are based on the three children from Cambodia, India and Malaysia: Srey Mom, Jothi and John.

They are just three out of so many children out there in this world facing tremendous suffering each day of their lives, a life without choice. Fears overwhelmed. Worries increase day after day. Death becomes a norm. Feeling hopeless, sadness, emptiness and despair.

Who shall they thrust? Who can give them hope?

World Vision is doing what they can to provide these children the basic needs, give them the protections and most of all-LOVE!

Are you ready to DO SOMETHING now? There are defintely a few things you can contribute to make this world a better place for someone by giving what you can.
1. Donation
2. Adopt a child/ children
3. Be a social worker/ helper
4. Pray for them
5. STOP COMPLAINING your life! Be thankful!

Lovely children

Intended to post something about my complaint against some dissatisfactions towards some people, some pathetic system and ...... Yes, I lose my cool just a few days ago. It nearly forced me to the stage of RAWRing.

Somehow this post didnt manage to finish. Well, I am pleased, and I'm sure He's very pleased too.

Early this beautiful Saturday morning, 5 of us went to Social Club in DUMC. This ministry is where special children gathered to have fellowship with one another, also with some helpers once in every first week of the month.

There was a sense of anxiety even before I stepped out of my apartment. Guess I was just too influenced by the book that talked about the story of an autistic boy, Christopher. So much so that, I actually even consider what colour of shirt is appropriate and I keep remind myself not to hug them or talk too fast or laugh wildly. *ahem, behave*

At first, I was really anxious when Tracy, the head of the ministry team, only briefly explained the programme of the day and didnt really touch on the topic of 'don't-s'. Basically, I have no idea what I should not do. Like says, I should not give a high five, touch or hug them and etc.

In that particular book I read stated these in the context of Chris:
1. He doesn't like the colour of yellow and brown.
2. He doesn't like strangers, even people he knows to touch him.
3. He doesn't like different kind of food that touches one another on the same plate.
4. He doesn't like crowd.
5. He doesn't like story book, because it's not real.
The list goes on ... ...

Later, I realised they are not like Chris. They are like the little children that I have met during NS years ago. Only they are slightly taller and bigger in size. I mean some are in their teens and youth.

We started off with some actions songs, followed by some activities planned by the ministry team. They were group into their usual group as usual (4 groups: Mozart, Newton, ... *forgot*) I was placed as helper in the Mozart.

First, the making of chinese vege dumplings ('bao'1). Arts and crafts: Paper made caterpillar. Games: Cloths hanging & Musical chair. Last, MAKAN time!!! Also, celebrated JX's birthday.

From what I observed, some are pretty normal and can even tell me jokes, some are slower and passive, some are a little hyper. But one thing for sure, all of them are really HAPPY kids. I mean, you look at them, you can find true joy in them. They don't complaint much (most of them), enjoy doing little things, give very possitive responds, very well disciplined and smile sincerely (really touching).

Some scenes that touched me in some ways:
1. There were a few kids went to shake hands with some helpers, they are the one who stretched out their hands before the helpers do so. Cool huh? Very sporting!
2. They wait patiently for their turns and asked for anything very politely.
3. The helpers are very friendly and can even call them out each by name without mistake and recognised their characters (there are at least 25 of them). *salute*

Now I sit here and think about everything I have learned from them this morning. Who am I to complaint when there are children who knows how to find joy in everything they do each day. They are brave, happy, content and grateful.

They may be imperfect in the eyes of the world, but they are always the most perfect creations in the eyes of the Lord. May God bless them strength, wisdom, boldness, joy in the journey of faith.

Just this morning, I have make new friends with these cool fellows!! Feeling so blessed!

This ministry team needs more young helpers. Most of the helpers are either retirees (ex-CEOs)or at least above 35. I think I'll continue going there to help out in anyway I can. Wanna join me? Let me know =) You'll be touched!

Interfac meeting is finally over!!

Ya... Today had been really interesting enough though pretty tired.

Imagine I did it again!
Yes, if you know what I mean here. I woke up late AGAIN!!
This phenomenon happens every semester without fail.
Today, I woke up half an hour before my class starts. Started walking to school around 10 minutes before 10am (normally I set off 25 minutes before). Superb beautiful bright heart warming sunshine and thank God for the breeze. Sweat (real sweat, not =.=")! With my bag filled with lots of heavy stuff and hand fulled with heavy loaded important stuff for the day (laptop & door gifts).

By the time I reached, I couldn't see anyone from my course walking at the corridor. Peeping around the classes from the windows didn't help. Only found out that my replacement class is conducting at another block =,=" when I finally check on my notebook. Ya... More morning walk! The moment I step into the correct place, I really felt like as if I was dragged out from a lake. Really thank God that the class haven't start. There were a class in the room that ended their class late. So, I manage to get there ON TIME (whatever way I define this)!!

Utar CF is holding 2 mega events this semester. Today was the Interfaculty Meeting and PJ campus is the host.

Was preparing the door gifts a few days ago. Thank God for Anita and Megan to be there to help out Ju and me. So happy to have great friends like them =)

Spent almost more than 2 hours in Old Town at Jaya One there to do the writing, punching, sticking...

Of course, it's was not done. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, I brought all the door gifts back with me and finish the finale part.

So these are the finale part where I haven't put up the strings. All being laid on my table. There goes my collection on seashells, proud of you all for being such beauties.

Not today, yesterday!! The event finally came and it's over! Am glad and happy!
The games were really testing on their vocal, observation...
Praise and worship... SKETCH!! Funny la those who acted... very spontaneous and real good jokers.
Food was great! 'Makan'.... fellowship... pictures snapping...
Altogether, I'm now really tired and need more rest! Have to prepare for the quiz on Friday and assignments duedates...

Still, it's always worth of doing His job =)
